Invocation

Spirit of God, descend upon our hearts. Wean them from earth; through all their pulses move. Stoop to our weaknesses, mighty though you are; and make us love you as we were born to love.

Call to Worship (based on Psalm 130)

Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD.

Lord, hear my voice!

If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits.

And in God’s word I hope.

My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who wait for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love and with him is great power to redeem.

Prayer of Confession

O God of love and mercy, we enter your presence today seeking your forgiveness for our many sins and shortcomings. We seek your face as we confess all the ways we have failed you. We acknowledge our sins before you. (Allow a few moments for silent confession.)

Thank you, O God, for creating in us a clean heart in restoring our souls. In you alone our sins are washed way, and we am made whiter than snow. Amen.

Benediction

May Christ, who dwells within us, give us strength to wait and watch for
